Arches National Park - Located right outside Moab, UT. The park is well known for the sandstone arch formations formed by years of erosion. For photographers, there are "best times of day" for the various arches based on the position of the sun. I would recommend visiting Utah Red Rocks for anyone that plans on visiting and taking pictures. The pictures below were taken in late May with days being bright and sunny in the morning and clouds building in the afternoon.Other areas to visit include Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands. The Island in the Sky region of Canyonlands have both the Mesa Arch that is photographed at sunrise and the Green River Overlook that is suppose to offer a great sunset. A couple hours from Moab is the Natural Bridges National Monument. This park has magnificent arches cut by water. To get up close involves hiking to the bottom of the canyon. The lush green in Natural Bridges is a dramatic contrast of the desert at Arches National Park. |

One
of my personal favorites is this picture of the Double Arch.
A
view of Turret Arch and either Double or one of the North/South
Arches in the distance.
Three
Gossips on the left and the Courthouse Towers on the right.

Landscape
Arch and possibly Partition Arch in the background taken at sunrise.
Sipapu
Arch located in National Bridges National monument.
Sipapu
Arch after a long hike down which included a couple ladders. It was a
rough hike back up especially carrying a tripod and camera equipment.
A

The back of North and
South Arches. Turret Arch can be seen looking though the North Arch.
A view of Turret Arch as
seen through teh North Arch window. The gentlemen in the picture gives
a sense of perspective to the size of the arch. The picture is
available without the man in the shot.
The stairway that leads up to
the front side of the North Arch. For some reason it kind of reminds me
of the Led Zeppelin song "Stairway to Heaven".
The view of the stairs
leading up to the Turret Arch.
A sunset shot of
Delicate Arch. It is a high dynamic range picture in which two images
of different exposures were merged to gether. One was shot for the sky
and the other for the arch.
The
sunset at Delicate Arch.
One of the first stops in
Arches National Park is for a short trailhead for this area named "Park
Avenue". Another HDR image to keep the sky from being overexposed.
